The Jews and the Iranian Nation Building Projects of the 20th Century
A lecture by:
Lior Sternfeld, Middle East Studies, Ben Gurion University
This event is co-sponsored by the Skirball Department of Hebrew & Judaic Studies
This talk analyzes the institutional history of the Jewish communities in Iran — and the pivotal role these institutions played in facilitating integration and other social developments. Examples of social developments include the politicizing of youth and participation in nation-building projects as envisaged by Mohammad Reza Shah (from the 1950s to the 1979 revolution).
